Sri Lanka and Iran enjoy abundant potentials and capacities for developing their all-out relations,the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has said.Salehi described the relations between Tehran and Colombo as “very good”. He voiced Iran’s readiness to boost ties with the South Asian nation, and stated, “The two countries enjoy high capacities in trade, economy, health and culture … and we are prepared to expand bilateral ties in all fields.”During the meeting, the Sri Lankan diplomat submitted a copy of his credentials to Salehi, and voiced his country’s preparedness to further bolster cooperation with Tehran given Iran’s important role in the region.
The two sides have agreed to increase ties more than ever before during a meeting between the Foreign Minister and the Sri Lankan Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiyutheen when he led an economic delegation to Teheran in December 2012.
