Australia beat Sri Lanka to reach World Cup Final |
ICC Women's World Cup 2013
Five time champions Australia booked a place in ICC Women’s World Cup 2013 final with a commanding 9 wicket win over Sri Lanka in their second Super Six match today. Rachael Haynes scored an unbeaten 71 to take Australia to their 8th World Cup final.
Batting first, Sri Lanka were simply unable to string partnerships together as they had done during their victories against England and India.
The only Sri Lankan batter to offer some resistance was Deepika Rasangika who tried to take the attack to the bowlers striking seven fours in her 43.
Her 49-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Dilani Manodara (21) was the highest of the innings.
Sri Lanka captain, Shashikala Siriwardena was obviously disappointed with the loss but said there were positives to take from the tournament with one more Super Six game to go.
