Again under flood threat
The Department of Meteorology says that heavy rains with strong winds could be expected in certain areas in the Western, North-Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uuva Provinces.Meanwhile, people in many parts of the country have been severely affected due to the inclement weather conditions. Several families residing in the Addalachchena area in Ampara have been displaced as a result of the heavy rains experienced in the Amapara district.The disaster Management centre states that 163 thousand people belonging to 45 thousand 881 families have been distressed due to adverse weather and 272 houses were damaged.
