Pakistan U23 football team to leave for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka vs Maldives in the opening match

Pakistan U23 football team will leave for Sri Lanka(01/12/12) to take part in Mahinda Rajapaksa International Football Tournament to be held from December 3 to 9 at Nawalapitiya, Jayathilaka Stadium.
Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the four nations that will play the football tournament for Mahinda Rajapaksa International Football Trophy. There will be two matches every other day commencing from December 3 where Sri Lanka will play against Maldives in the opening match.“The participation in the event will help our team to prepare for South Asian Games likely to be held in September, 2013,” said Pakistan Football Federation president Faysal Saleh Hayat here on Friday. He also wished the team good luck and expressed the optimism that the team would produce desired results in the event.

Pakistan Squad:



  • Kaleem Ullah (Captain) Faisal Iqbal, Saddam Hussain, Saqib Hanif; Jahangir Khan and Muzamil Hussain are goalkeepers,
  •  Naveed Ahmed, Mohsin Ali, Ahsan Ullah, Ghulam Fareed, M Hamid, M Salman are defenders
  • Sher Mohammad, M Adil, Zia-us-Salam, Bilawal Rehman, Hasnain Abbas, Mehmood Khan are MF, Zakir Lashari and Saeed Ahmed are strikers.
The tournament Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy is jointly organized by the Ministry of Sports and National Football Federation of Sri Lanka.
