Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 16 runs in the first semi-final of the World Twenty20

Sri Lanka qualified for the final of the ICC T20 World Cup  after beating Pakistan by 16 runs at the R. Premadasa Stadium,colombo,Sri Lanka.

After winning the toss the Sri Lanka  captain Mahela Jayawardena decided to bat first and set Pakistan a target of 139.
Pakistan's Shahid Afridi took out Sri Lankan skipper and opener Mahela Jayawardena for 42 off 36 balls and Dilshan Tillakaratne scored 35 before he got an lbw from Umar Gul's ball.

In reply, Pakistan has lost three quick wickets. Sri Lanka's Ajantha Mendis scalped Pakistan's Imran Nazir for 20 and Angelo Mathews claimed the wickets of Nasir Jamshed and Kamran Akmal.

Pakistan's Captain Mohammad Hafeez (42) top-scored for his team after being dropped twice. Sri Lanka, Rangana Herath (3-25), Ajantha Mendis (2-27) and Angelo Mathews (2-27). while Pakistan could only manage 123/7 in their 20 overs.

Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardena was named the Man of the Match.
